Going through the nether

To go through the nether you need 4 blocks of gold, a nether reactor, and cobble stone.

When going through the nether reactor you need a few things. (prefered)
-diamond sword
-diamond armor
-diamond pickaxe
-torches
-chest

while going through the nether reactor you pick up a lot of items so therefore you need a chest.
